"This is a blog to enable speech between people from Phnom Penh and Helsinki. By cities ACROSS inspiring eachother we hope to empower communities WITHIN cities and aim towards more equal urban beings and life.
Anyone interested in human rights and sustainability within cities is invited to express their mental activity here verbally and visually - The ReceiverTransmitter has now been activated."
This blog was born within the "City in Crisis" course of the Department of Architecture in Helsinki University of Technology in Finland.
In March 2009, a group of architecture and urban planning students travelled to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. In collaboration with local actors we generated new ideas on future development of the city. The concrete outcome is a book "Cambodia 2009" (downloadable below) where all the course work was collected.
The next group of Finnish students will arrive to Cambodia in late February, 2010. If you are interested on the project, don't hesitate to contact us!
Hei Rufa and TKK students who have been on the City in Crisis course before, here's your chance to send greetings back to people met before, what would you like to say???
ReplyDeletePost your greetings here or send your pictures to
helsinkiphnompenh@gmail.com
Thanks! -Inari

ReplyDeleteHi, I am Seungho, one of City in Crisis II 2010 students. You took my photo and did not update it here. I am disappointed!
ReplyDelete:-D
Thanks for your comment, Seungho!
ReplyDeleteThe reason we did not publish your photos here was because of your privacy - We did not inform people clearly about intentions of this sort before photographing, so we thought everyone might not feel comfortable about us uploading the pictures to the web.
Your photos were, however, attached to our video introducing Finland, our university and the forthcoming students which was shown at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh - So your message was delivered!
Best, Sisko
